Default Help?

Ok, I would have searched but I didn't know exactly what to search for to describe my problem so hopefully one of you can tell me. I was driving home from work today and I noticed that at stops the RPM's would jump from about 700-1300 back and forth....the air conditioning was off, and I wasn't doing anything....just sitting in nuetral at a stop. It stopped so I didn't think much of it. Then when I pulled into the driveway right before I cut the car off....the car started shaking, and the RPM's started doing it again, and it made a strange whirring noise, like the car was surging. Any ideas? God I hope this isn't gonna be a big problem......

Not really sure, can't really help you...where were the noises coming from?
Maybe you were stalling out. [8D]

It could be the EGR or the IAC, both affect the idle and can make noise. Any codes thrown yet?

I've had the false oil pressure code for a while yet. I'll go check to see if any others are being thrown in a minute....I was in neutral waiting to cut the car off, so I don't think it was stalling out, unless you mean something else? I called a friend and he suggested cleaning the MAF sensor, does that seem plausible? As far as the noises...they were coming from under the hood....sounded like a 4 cylinder on it's last legs trying to rev the engine....

Vaccum leak, check lines and fittings esp. around the junction off the manifold.
Dirty T.B, clean it out with T.B safe cleaner.
Dirty MAF, clean carfully with Q-tips and rubbing alcohol.
Dirty EGR, remove make sure the valve is clean, the port form the EGR to the intake,as well as the EGR to the exhaust.

I would pin point the problem and take care off it. The above posts probably cover how to fix whats wrong with it. Then you can do your seafoam, but try no to add any new variables to the eqaution until itis solved.
