3.8 things

The motor is the same as yours.
The M-90 will make a nice addition but you really need to up the boost to 9 PSI, or even 11 to get any serrious gains out of it on an otherwise stock single port engine. Best thing to do would be to get the following:
M-90 SC from a supercoupe, most complete kit you can find
36lb fuel injectors
155lb hr fuel pump
80 or 90mm MAF set to the injectors
9 psi or 11 psi pulley
Get dual exhaust on the car to get rid of some unwanted back pressure after the mod
Then do the following:
make the necessary modifications to the fuel system so that the M-90 fits
port/polish the lower intake and the M-90 for better/cleaner air flow
Now depending on what boost you run you'll sit anywhere from 180rwhp-mid 200s and unless you're constantly romping on the S/C you'll get nearly stock MPG.

The gas mileage on the 3.8 is a hair better than a 4.6. Don't get a v6 for gas mileage, get it for lower insurance.
The supercoupe swap will work on 94-98 3.8's. I think the gains will put you a little above a stock split port 3.8. Those sn-95 motors are turds[:'(].

yep, you can hear it whine. Theres also some holes on the underside of the blower that are "silencers", you can weld them shut and it will make the whine MUCH louder.

~200 rwhp, 300 rwft.lbs
you NEED atleast GT take off duals
someone on 3.8(?) had duals and the swap with stock 205 rubber, and 2.73 peg leg and ran a 14 flat i believe in the quarter

Why not just buy a Super Coupe? 94-95's have more power then the 89-93 models, get a 5speed and that comes with a 2.73 rearend for some low RPM's(good MPG). The Super Coupe will come loaded with options that will make a Lincoln driver do a double take. Also the sleeper effect of those cars is one of the best, since not many know what they are. The factory engineered S/C will respond to mods, and is capable of low-mid 15 sec 1/4 mileruns from the factory. Aren't they rated ~24 MPG factory? I dont know if the auto/manuels differ. Auto= 3.27 axel, .67 OD. 5speed=2.73axel, .75 OD.
Here a nice link for the specs: http://www.albeedigital.com/supercoupe/spex.html
If you haven't noticed, I really like Super Coupes.

I like Mustangs as well, but you will be able to pick a Super Coupe for less than a New Edge 3.8 and it will be faster and have the S/C alredy installed. The T-Bird's drivetrain is factory designed work with its motor, a V6 Mustang's drivetrain was desinged to work with it motor.
I really do not see why you want to buy a second car for better MPG and daily drivng only to spend more money on a pretty serious mod than would compromise( compared to stock)the economy/drivablity/realiablity of a car bought for better economy/etc. But it your $, do whatever you want.
If you want a 200RWHP in a DD package with good MPG get a SN95 GT, I get 25 MPG with a 5.0 , 5speed, and 3.55's. That 25MPG is the minimum, usually its better,in town/hwy driving

94-95 5.0's can be had for a good price. One in great shape with ~120K miles, and a few tasteful bolt-ons can be had for $5000. Factor in a 2.73 or 3.08 reaend witha .67 OD ratio and you will be getting equal or better MPG than a stock 3.8 Mustang.
Are you sure you want to get rid of a 86 GT with original T-Tops? It should be able to get good MPG if driven nice and easy. I guess the 4.10's aren't helping the cause.
