4.2 stroker ?
I am going to be rebuilding my engine and doing a 4.2 stroker kit in my shop class in about 8 months so i am slowly saving up and getting the parts i need for it. There was a post before that had a list of everything you need to do it, but i can't find it. I beleive i know everything i need but one thing. I can't remember what that one thing is, it something like a flex plate or harmonic balancer, or something along that line. I have a 2000, it had something to do with the internal balancing of something. If anyone knows what it is i am thinking of or knows the complete list of things i need it would be greatly apreciated if you could post it so i can verify that i have found everything i need. Thanks
http://www.precisionengine.com/rebui...nes/index.html its $1995. And its also a straight swap. So if you have A) the engine and B) the tools to get the job done, you dont need to buy ne thing else. Probably need a tune however, and i would reccomend to upgrade your exhaust and some form of LSD. It comes with 250hp and 285tq. If you want more power you can email them and they build it custom for you.
I can build one in my automotive class that will prolly put out more hp and get 4:10 gears with tlok a shif kit and a torque converter for about the same price as an engine at that site. Since i am going to do it in my automotive class i don't have to pay for installation but if I had to pay for installation i think that would be a good deal.
Search some of my old posts about them. The list is there. Ford switched half way into the 2000 production year as to internal or externally balenced motors. The only way to tell is by looking at the crank pulley. You'll also want the 01-04 oil pan.

is a 4.2 just a 3.8 with a 4.2 crank or is a larger bore involved? What might be required in a 5L v6?

a 4.2 is a damn big V6, and a 5.0L V6 is just too damn big. You'd make torque like a mother****er, but you'd have no top end. It would be like driving a damn F250 Superduty or something.
Soo the question stillremains, can .8L be squeased out of a 4.2?
Im thinkin a Johnny cash song right now, some of the words go "And I'l have the only one around...."
Oh, if I wanted gas mialage id buy a VW Rabbit diesel or Geo Metro... (The rabbit would be cool thoe...)
