engine ping
ok my engine tends to ping when i use regular gas... if i use high octane it doesnt do it, also it gets worse as the gas tank has less in it
i was thinking a solution for this would be new fuel injectors.... i'm no mechanic so i haev no idea... but i would think that if i put in better fuel injectors it wouldnt do that and might even do my engine good
thanks for any feedback

If it's pinging when you use regular gas injectors won't help. Either put in mid grade or octane boost or buy from a different gas station. most "cheap" gas is cheaper for a reason, less additives.
i've bought gas from all over and as long as its 87 it pings and even the higher stuff pings when the tank gets real low
i've run fuel injector cleaner time and time again... no help
so a colder spark plug would help? and can someone explain how i check the filter... and what an MAF wire is thanks

i have the same exact problem with my 2000 v6 mustang...do you really think it is the MAF wire because i have tried everything and i never did think about that...so how would you go about checking that...will i be able to see if it is dirty or not...by the way sorry to jump in on this forum but i think it does help both of us.
To check the MAF, you need the tamper-proof screw-bit to remove the 4 screws holding it on top of the housing. The MAF senor is the black square with a few wires running out of it, right behind the filter.( you may have to dissemble the filter box assembly to acces the MAF.)Remove the senor, there are two filaments on the under side, they are probably dirty, carefully clean them with rubbing alcohol and a q-tip, reinstall.
It would be a good idea to clean out the throttle body with some T.B safe cleaner and paper towels.
The fuel filter needs to be replaced if it hasn't been done in the last 20-30K miles. Its the round thing -4inches long located between the rear axle and the gas tank. The alligator clips on each end come off when pryed up with a screw driver, but be careful , you need to be out of the way when you pull a line off, gas will come out.
Also try a goodfuel system cleaner, the $6-7 dollar bottle, maybe in back-to-back tanks.
That was a rough overview, feel free to ask more questions, the problem is solvable.
