GT of your year, ~ 220hp to the wheels. Blow your car with any blower for $3000. ~275 hp to the wheels. You do the math, which is a better deal? Thats just my opinion. But then you cna always mod the GT also...

I know these things aren't fast, but with no mods my V6 will get up and go when I tell it to. If I'm going 70 and drop it to 3rd it'll get me out of a spot I don't wanna be in, and if you've got an automatic transmission it should drop it for you when you punch the gas. If it really didn't do ANYTHING then maybe you've got a problem. I've known plenty of dudes that would lug their engine at 1k rpms with their foot on the floor, all the while talking about how slow their car was.

i really hope your not trying to put down my dream car
5.0s are wayyyyyy cooler than 4.6's in my book
plus there are alot of mods out for it so you can make it kill a termi

If it's speed you want, then look into a GT. It's much easier to just go ahead, sell your car, and get yourself into a similar year GT, than it is to go through all the BS needed to get your sixer up to par with a GT. I'm all for moding sixers, however, the cost can just make the mountain seem unsumountable for most people when compared to what a base V8 offers. So in short, do what is best and most economical for you. I made my choice and went from a sixer to a V8, although I now wish I would of kept my old car as a second, but in any since, I did what I felt was best for me, now you must do the same.

Yeah, someone said to post it on craigslist and raise ur asking price... that way if u get bargained down u wont be losing as much if u were to start at or around blue book... (u never want to start at blue book because if your gonna go that low you might as well trade it in.)

Alright, thanks for all the advice guys. I'm probably going to keep it for now as I'm just starting college and won't have money to play around with and go for an upgrade quite yet, so I'll put on the exhaust and fix up some visual things that aren't so great and see if the opportunity arises for me to sell this. I'll probably list it every once in a while and see if I get a good offer and if so I'll sell and buy a GT.

arent GTs only like 220 hp because if that is true than it doesnt take that many mods to bring a v6 to be able to smoke a GT????

yeah but V6s dont respond as well to mods as a GT.. minor bolt ons to a V6 will gain u a few numbers the same on a GT will give u a pretty good out put. Gas mileage is roughly the same, depending on insurance (if its just liability) it will be roughly the same.. only thing is initial cost..

No. GT's have 260 hp. And it's more like 230 to the wheels. A V6 has 190 hp, but only around 160 to the wheels. It takes a lot for a stock V6 to smoke a stock GT of the same year.

And no, Stallion. The 2v's respond pretty similarly to mods, the only exceptions being full exhaust and boost.

230whp isprobably a littlebetter than average, even for a manual 99-04 GT. Auto's tend to make significantly less. The last bone stock auto 99-04 GT I saw on the dyno made 205whp.

Anyway, point being, you can make ~220whp w/ CAI, Exhaust, Heads, and cam...

That will put you in the same power range as a stock manual GT and you'll still have a ~200lb weight advantage. Of course, they've got more tq still and t-loc, but with 220whp, gears, and t-loc, you'll surprise a LOT of near-stock GT's, especially if you can drive, too.

Now, that's not to say that I think it's thebest plan foreveryoneto keep the V6 rather than move up to a GT, because it's not... just throwing out something to think about.
