2000 Cobra R is a 5.4.

Iv also seen dynos of manual PI GT's with header back exhaust, just hitting 220 several times; ive also seen them lower and higher on occasion.

Nice list, jthorn... just a couple comments

ORIGINAL: jthorn9

93 Mustang SVT Cobra - 5.0L OHV- 235 bhp = approx 185ish rwhp
That's really low for a '93 Cobra. They make more like ~220whp.

ORIGINAL: jthorn9

94-95 Mustang SVT Cobra OHV - 5.0L 240 bhp = approx 200 rwhp
This is low, as well, given that it's the same engine as in the '93.

ORIGINAL: jthorn9

03-04 Mustang SVT Cobra - 4.6L - 390 bhp DOHC= approx 350-360 rwhp
This is a little lower than average, I'd say, also. My friend's '03 made 371whp, bone stock, and I've heard of quite a few others matching or beating that number. 350-something whp would be on the low end, for sure.

Hey, just going off of factory specs, and approx rwhp loss. I've never seen an exact dyno of a totally stock Cobra in 93 or 95, but if they have 240 bhp, then it's safe to say they're loosing 16% powertrain loss if it's a manual. Now remember Ford also made the SVO GT-40, which was pretty much a GT that was given some serrious performance upgrades as SVO used a Cobra intake (just didn't have the Cobra manifold plate), they caned the iron GT-40s SVT used and droped in aluminum GT-40 heads, they made an option for 3.23 or 3.55 gear ratios, and boosted a few other things as well, so some people claiming to have a Cobra may unknowinly have a GT-40 as they pretty much look the same as a Cobra, only a few small details will give them away.

Well, even after taking 16% off of 240hp for losses, that's still ~200whp, not ~185whp, but that's beside the point.

Short answer is, the '93 Cobras were underrated from the factory, just like the '03 Cobra was.

Most of them haveexhaust, but they're making between 240whp - 252whp. One with JUSTmufflers made 225whp... and the guy that was totally stock in the second thread made 227whp w/ a dirty MAF.If it was just one or two, I could see there being a mistake somewhere, but the results seem pretty consistent from these cars, and others that I've heard of.

If you want speed, your not going to be happy with a STOCK GT. Which means you are going to want to mod that as well. You said your going to be going to college soon, and wont have much cash. Just stick with your v6 that you dont owe anything on, maintain it well, mod it here and there, THEN get what you really want once you are done with school and have a disposable income.

[edit] - Jovez - that has got to be the friggin COOLEST sig I have ever seen! :P

I guess it matters enough that you bothered to take the time to post about whether it matters or not. [&:]
