Ok, I should have said "drag race car" - I just assumed that was what he was talking about\. I'll keep my 5 speed for open track.

Can't forget about drivetrain loss. On average an auto will lose about 20% crank hp, while a manual will lose 15% crank hp. Hence the reason manuals ussually get better mpg as well. Stock for stock, the manual will almost always win. But as others have pointed out a built auto will take it.

Automatics weigh more than manuals. Manuals are faster w/ decent drivers. Thats a given. You must not know a whole lot about cars. No insult intended.
