Default engine conversion

Can an engine from an F-150 (5.0) be used in my 93 LX 2.3? Or how about one from a Mark IV? I hope there is some way to do that because it is getting harder and harder to find all the stuff to do a swap to a 5.0. Thanks. Let me know.

You can do it, but you will need new motor mounts, a new tranny, probably new tranny mounts and upgrade the suspension. You will probably want to swap the rear end out too. It will be a heck of a project but it can be done.

Zach is right it can all be done but everything SHOULD be changed over. The engine will fit and work nice but the truck and Mark have colum mounted shifters so you will need a different tranny or the mustang linkage, driveshaft will be different rear end and axle will need to come from a mustang. suspension, fuel lines, brakes brake lines front end will need to come from a mustang. And to boot both the Mark and the Truck engines were not high performance engines so you would have a V8 and more power than the 2.3 but a stock V8 stang would still run you down. If you can buy salvage and have a complete car it is a doable project but if all you have is a motor even buying all the parts from a boneyard will push the cost of conversion beyond the cost of buying a turn key car. just my .02

This is how to do it:

if the motor is from a car other than a mustang get this kit from ford racing parts. I don't know their part #, but at summitracing.com it is part # fms-m-6670-a50
