Whats wrong with my car?!?!
ok....i have a 99 mustang v6 and i dont understand why im getting crappy gas mileage.....im getting like 18 mpg and the only thing ive done to my car is dual exhaust, 17 inch rims, and i removed the air silencer...i just dont get it!!!! its driving me crazy.....someone plz help me....
well for starters id put the air silencer back on all you are doin in sucking in hot engine air....you might wanna clean your fuel injectors and check your air filter....most likely it is somehitng simple like that.....do that drive it for a while and see if it helps.....might wanna clean your maf sensor too.....get electrical cleaner and spray the sensor but do NOT touch it with your hands....let it dry and reinstall it....these should hopefully solve your problem

Also, you may have a problem called leadfoot syndrom.

Yea either check the air filter or put some fuel cleaner into the gas tank. it helped me out a lot. i would say ur o2 sensors are bad, but if ur check engine light isnt on, then it prolly isnt it. is 18 mpg city or 18mpg highway? cuz a 1999 v6 is rated at 20 mpg in the city, so thats about norm. i get about 290 miles per tank.
Is your car and auto, cause they get worse gas milage than manuals. The epa mpg is normally for manual and I know it is for mustang. The automatics are normally 5 mpg less than manual for both city and highway. 18 sounds normal for combined city and highway driving. I averaged about 16 before I got my cold air, now I'm getting around 19.
