Steering/handling?
Hey everyone, what's up? I used to be here in the v6 section alot but lost interest in my car due to its lack of performance and the fact that I have in 67 that needs rebuilt from the ground up. 98 went to the backburner for roughly the past 7 months and I just got it back out to run around alittle before the winter hits.
The car has acouple small problems that I'd like to ask you guys a few questions on. First off, the car has a redicuous amount of bump-steer. I believe that my alignment is off too, so this might be enhancing the bump. Anything to get rid of this problem?
I'm running 235/40/17front and 275/40/17rear and I have heard this particular combination makes the steering extra sensitive. I think I agree on this becuase the car is quick in response and manuvers very well. However, it feels sloppy in the rear. The front goes right where I point it but the backend feels like its delayed or has lateral sway. There is no rearstabilizer bar, would this improve cornering if one was added? Front is original. Would it compromise comfortabilty?
And finally, I have had a plague of the dreaded "Check Engine" light since as long as I can remember. I have scanned it and everytime it comes up "Auxillary Emissions" and have cleared it out. It'll go away for awhile and then come back. My mechanic friend says that code is a generic one and doesn't really mean much. Im wondering if this is effecting my performance. Any thoughts? I did a gt-cut off swap, but I wouldn't think this would effect it.
BTW, `98 3.8L auto coupe w/ UDP's, gt-cutoffs, cobra wheels

I'd go with a stock GT take off sway bar to start with. Spend like $40 or less and it will help your issue in the rear.
The check engine light could be several things, I'd look into a clogged cat first.
Any other suspension mods done?
I'd suggest getting some new bushings etc to replace the old worn out joints at the sway bar ends in the front. Get athat front end aligned as well and see how it all feels to you then.

The suspension/steering is all stock except for the lower passenger balljoint has been replaced somewhere along the line. Ill check out all the bushings and joints soon, that could possibly be something since the car has 127k on it.
