Default Greaaaat rear end problems

so ive been having a string of bad luck over the past few weeks, and i have a habbit where i tend to drive by emotions, so the other day, i was driving down some old 2 lane road i was lost on in the boonies, decided i went far enough, turned around, slamed it down into 1, stuck it to the floor got great traction (why couldnt i get that at the track?) the bumped it into 2........ the tires spin, hard, to the point where i put a 6' strip on the road, whole reason its only 6'? i heard a loud clunk in the rear end[:@], nothings leaking, and it still drives, in a straight line its fine, if i take corners at all it will start to click/clunk (almost sounds like a locker type sound but i dont have one) and something feels weird in the drivers side rear but theres no play in the tires, did i strip some teeth on a axle shaft or something or what could it be? and its still stock 3.27/open,

worse comes to worse ill throw in a junkyard 8.8 i guess, but any ideas?

my guess is you chipped or broke off a tooth (or more than one) in the rear end.

You can break only one tooth. That would explain why its making noises, because under acceleration the differential isn't realy diong anything, but when you turn it starts to do weird stuff and move around.

My guess is you screwed up a spider gear because those are the weakest part in there and they will usually only make noise when turning.

Why not just take the dif. cover off and see? The fluid should be changed every 60k-80k miles anyway, and most people overlook changing it.

i will officially never, ever, ever, ever ever recomend an FFRP anything for a 7.5 rear, a 100% bone stock split port AUTOMATIC destroyed the spider gears, and since ive started driving it, theres been about 25k, prob 8-10 is worth my driving

funniest thing tho, i broke them on a 1-2 bump and not a D-2 shift[8D]

At least those are cheap compared to the rest of the rear end. A used set would even be fine as long as there are no broken teeth. This would be a good time to put a LSD in it and lower gears.
