Default top speed?

So im not sure what the top speed of my 03 V6 3.8L is. I've gotten it up to 120 mph which is what the meter says is the top but i still hear it accelerating, and i can feel it still getting faster. so how do i find out what the real top speed is and what should i do so i have a speedometer that tells me the right speed.

p.s. as far as i know the only thing done to the car so far is a custom dual exhaust, im the fourth owner of the car so i have no clue what kind it is but i know it isnt stock im gonna take some time to lift it up and see what kind it is...when ever i get the chance.

Your car doesn't go that fast, it's an error.

Your car is speed limited to, I believe, 116mph.

very close ryan. so yea, it probably has to do with the tires not being the exact factory size or they are worn or osmething causing the speedo to be a couple mph off. why were you goin that fast anyway?

94-98 = 112 mph
99-04 = 118 mph
05-08 = 118 mph

You can do the little diagnostic trick to the odometer and it will give you a read out of the exact speed.

I've actually been trying to get my "diagnostic" display to come up but it hasn't worked for me lately for some reason. I used to do it all the time in my F150, my friends loved the digital tach. lol

that wont make up for the difference in tire sizes though, it will read exactly what your needle does its just more exact.

Based on my experience, removing the governor on a stockish 6er such as your's will net you in the ballpart of 125. Bolt-ons and a tune can get you to 130. Lowering, weight management/reductionand a GOOD tune will net you 135+ with still winds. Gearing has anaffect too. Just make sure your clutch is good or it'll give out at 135 like mine did and that's as fast as you'll be able to go.

Hell if you're gonna do something' stupid....commit!
