HELP!! 3rd fuel filter
Ok, another problem yet again. I have changed my fuel filter 3 timesin the last 6 months because it was trying to stall on me after an hour or so of running. I am having these problems again! Same exact problems so I am assuming I am picking up more trash in the lines, but 3 d@mn filters???[:@] My question...is there something else I should be looking at? I don't want to continue changing the filter if something else could possibly be going on. My check engine light is back on if that helps.Ihope someone has an idea for me to go with. I really don't want to pay some @$$ hat to tell me to change the filter..again.[sm=rolleyes.gif]
It fixed it everytime, but it continually comes back. I had figured that it was flushing out the trash because its a 98, and when I bought it, it had the original filter on it.Its funnythat you say someone could be putting something in it. Coincidentally, I've had so many nails in my tires that I don't think they will allow another patch in any of them. [&o]
Honestly, you shouldn't need to change filters three times so soon unless you just have alot of crap in the tank or as raz said, someone could be putting something in it. The usual crap people put in gas tanks would be sugar but I believe that would clog all of your fuel lines because it sticks to things. All I can tell you what to do is what everyone else has been, go drop it and check it out.
yer check engine light comes on and did you pull the code to see wut it is... cos it might not even be your fule.. it could be an O2 sensor... there are so many things that can make you stall after the engine warms up... but i agree go to autozone get the code pulled and there in lies the problem...
Ok, autozone told me the code is P1151. I know this is the bank 2 sensor. But wouldn't this only cause it to have rough idoling and maybe decreased performance? Maybe i'm off a little bit, but I don't consider loss of acceleration in either one of those categories. I don't know much about this so should I really be looking at a new sensor to correct the problem?
