Default misfire

well as yall probably know i recently cracked a header. I have been tryin to keep my cars fluids up, hoses good, and my battery charged by cranking it about once a week. I went to crank it the other day and it was sputtering and was missing real bad so i shut off the car. I thought that i could have water in the gas since we just had a cold front and that the gas was pretty old, like a month, so i went and got 2 gallons of new gas and added some fuel additive. Now I cant even hardly keep it running without giving it lots of gas. does this have something to do with only having half an exhuast system or somthing else. could a blown valve cause this misfire?

Check to make sure ur spark plugs arent cracked ( mine just were and it was misfiring real bad) and make sure ur intake is on tight and there are no leaks i forgot to tighten mine back up and it fell off once and it would die without me giving it gas.. embarrassing i know but it happens lol hope it helps

A burnt valve can make it run rough but not an actual misfire. Is it running rough or missing?

Will it power through the rpm range or jsut never pick up? Having a bad exhaust leak that close to the head can cause issues due to a difference in back pressure. Change your fuel filter too. Check all plug wires and plugs and check the coil for a possibly loose connection. And +1 on the intake, that little hose coming from the valve cover (PCV) and make sure it's connected. Mine has come out a few times and caused issues.

it will pick up through the rpm range but it wont idle at all. I have to give the car gas to even stay running. The pvc hose on the intake wont make it do that. I say its missing but it may just be running rough i dont really know but it wont idle and I dont think i will be able to drive it up on my trailer now to get it home to fix the problem

I just fixed this problem on my car. It ended up being a burned wire that was on the exhaust. If you have a tuner set the car back to stock tune and drive it for a good 20-30 minutes. You will get a blinking check engine light. Then use your tuner to find out which one is misfiring. It should be a P030# code. Then if that comes up check the plug and wire for that cylinder.

+1 i've run into this several times. It's usually on the passenger side header where it occurs. Start there. If you find a white powdery substance on a plug wire where it comes in close proximity or contact with metal (or the boot itself has it) that's caused from the arching.

half exhaust meaning my passenger side exhaust goes manifold, h-pipe, flowmaster, tip
my driver side goes manifold (broken off at the flange and not connected to the rest of my exhaust

i know the the pvc hose will make the car run like and it ist that nor is it disconnected, and for a reference it is running way rougher than that and im not sure if i could even drive it at all
