Do a quick search on "v8 swap" and you will come across more infomation than you will need. There's like 1 of these theradsevery week.

You asked about the 4.6 in the pm, then a 5.0 here. The 4.6 will be eaiser then the 5-0. You will need engine, trans and all wireing. Also supporting mods, rear end, driveshaft. However what do you want to do to the car? why not just throw on a s/c?

5.0L is a worse motor to start with if you already have the 99-04 3.8L in there.

In some states like California you have to use the engine that was in production with that car. The 5.0L has not been used since 1995 and thus being you can not legally get away with putting a 5.0L in anything newer in a state that regulates that such as California. Thats not saying that you can still get away with it, every time I had an inspection/smog they didnt care what I had.

For california the rule is you can use the same engine offered in that year and anything newer than that. For say a 1983 Mustang could use a 3.8L V6 or a 5.0L V8 or a 4.6L or 5.4L offered in newer cars.but couldnt use the 200 I-6 offered in 79' (I think it was a 200ci.) As long as you keep the emissions the same as offered with the engine/year you are using.

You could even put an Acura 2.2L in there if you had all the smog crap for it.

Always check your local laws. Personally I would suggest a 4.6L or 5.4L build.

Yeah the 5.0 is dead, however if you do do a 4.6/5.4 build up expect to pay alot more for parts. Thats why i prefer 351's

Are you kidding me? 5.0's are some of the easiest motors to make gobs of power with. The later ones used are faster than the split port 3.8, too. The 5.0 aftermarket is enormous, and relatively inexpensive. Would I go through the trouble of a swap? No. But saying the 3.8 is a better motor than the 5.0 is just stupidity. You really need to open your eyes and get off this whole V6 fanboy ****wagon. The 3.8 isn't the best motor ever made.
