i am buying a x cal 2 and was wondering if it is better to buy used. i can buy one from a friend, but i have to get a number off of the motor to send to get my specific tune. does anyone know mwhere that is? and where or wat would i have to do to get my tune?

No clue but i do know that he has to unlock it from his car. You can unlock it so many times before needing to send it back in to be reset, I think 3 times.

Also it should be the same SCT for all 96-06 mustang I believe. I can get the number for mine when i get home, its the number off the back of the tuner.

 

he has to unlock it from his car and then you used the supplied software and a walmart usb cable and call justin at vmp tuning and he can send you those tunes and you can put them on the device your self

 

so basicly all that has to be done is that he unlocks it and then i can make a phonecall to get the tunes?

 

^^ Exactly, unlock it from his car, then use the software to finish unlocking it and then upload a new tune. Vmp has the files for $50/tune. Very simple device to use

 

Buy a new one, call JMP and have them sell you one with 3 custom tunes on it, that itself is worth it.
