Default Temporary Weight Reduction

I may be autocrossing this next weekend, and I'm gonna start getting my car ready (cleaning everything out, etc) and I was wondering, how much weight would I save if I were to remove the passenger seat, the rear seats, and the spare tire/jack? I'd take the spare with me, but just leave it out of the car. Is there anything else I can remove that can be put back in easily? I can pull a seat out and put it back in in like 10 minutes total, so thats no big deal.

So, anything I can remove that's easy to put back in besides the seats and spare? How much weight would that lose, enough to justify it?

i found a chart that has the weight of most everything in a mustang

Front Passenger Side Leather Seat
1
40 cloth is a bit heavier than leather seats also

Jack and tire iron
1
7

Rear Cloth Seat
1
53

Rear Headrest
1
4

Rear Leather Seat
1
46

Spare tire
1
25

Trunk carpet and board
1
5.5

the middle number is quantity, last number is weight in lbs. theres between 100-150lbs you can remove without too much difficulty. 100lbs will not make a huge difference, but every little bit helps.

interesting, I figure I can remove about 130lbs. I can tell a huge difference in my car between a full tank of gas and a low tank, so I figure 130lbs less might make a decent difference. Not a whole lot, but a lightweight car is always more fun. Less weight=moreflickable.

Damn, that means my car would have a curb weight of like 2900lbs. Not bad...

the only thing that worries me though, is the fact that all that weight (or almost all of it) will be removed from the rear axle, which is where I need it most. Mustangs are already slightly nose heavy, so wouldn't that just make the problem worse, or is less weight better?

yes it is a problem. a gt is balanced about 55front 45rear if i remember right. and everything but the passenger seat is weight off the rear of the car, which hurts launches (atleast for me). slicks it wouldnt matter as much but street tires its alot easier to fishtail off the line. my only suggestion is take it all out and do a few practice launches in a parking lot/dead street in the wee hours of the morning and see if it helps you any.

hmmm, I dunno what I'm gonna do. I may just leave it in, because it will be my first time, and they usually recommend having another driver in the passenger seat to give you some feedback, but I don't really want another driver, I just want to go out and have some fun. Sheesh, so many choices.
