Default manual or automatic

why is manual always "better"? as long as you know how to use a auto and how it works they can be just as fast or faster.what makes them "worse"?

Manuels are fun but I perfer my auto better, its just as fast . I beat a 5 speed 2001 v6 wiuth duals and a cia and i had just a magnaflow muffler and a drop in k&n filter and i beat him bya car, when he was shifting gears my auto already shifted and i was gone lol. So i wouldn't call them slugs. Especialy if you know how to drive them. Peace

I enjoy manual, several of my cars that I have had in the past were manuals. Really I feel like I have more control over the car. Also if I see a cop I can slow down if I'm going a little fast by just pushing the clutch in without using the brakes andavoiding that nose dive that cops love to watch for. Which is better? I guess its another one of those personal choice things...

Autos can be just as good (or better) as a manual. If you race much a shift kit will really improve it plus the auto is a lot more consistent than a manual and that's what wins at the track.

Only in bracket racing.

Autos do make for better race cars, but if you drive the car on the street more than the strip, I'd rather have a manual. Stock for stock, a manual is faster with an equal driver, but an auto can be made much faster and more precise.

I think its to easy to damage a 5 spd. I wish I lived in the middle of no where with open roads. It sucks here most of the time. Im considering going automatic. t-5 for sale!

with most fords, a manual doesnt have as big of a drivetrain power loss as an automatic does, but automatics will usually shift faster, more precise, 100% of the time.

with the ford transmissions, its a decision of power or accuracy. you can easily lose in both departments depending on how you drive it.

Only if you're an idiot. Someone that knows how to drive a stick won't damage it any more than an automatic.
