Howling when idle - FIXED
Ok, here goes... I had a racing idle on my 03 V6 Mustang. I removed the Idle Air Control and cleaned it out with throttle body cleaner. I put it back on, did some other things, cleaned the throttle body itself (sensor safe Throttle Body cleaner). Did the brakes, was going to change the fuel filter but didnt have the dang spring loaded remover tool.
Got the thing fired back up again and it was making a horrible "wookie" or "howl" noise. I stripped the intake down to the throttle body and it still made the noise. I figured the IAC was shot, so I drove home (didn't have any issues besides it trying to stall on me when stopped and sounding like sleepy hollow all the way home...). When I got back to my garage, quiet as a church mouse. Ok, must have worked itself out.
Next day, I drive to work, 2 minutes from the house "OOOOOOOOO" same thing. I figured, ok, I came, I tried, It didnt work, I'll replace the IAC. Put the new one on tonight, fired it up...... "OOOOOOOOO" SAME THING.
Any clues? The only thing I can think of is 1) maybe I need a new IAC gasket. 2) Could I have somehow put the IAC on upside down?? Here's a pic:

Any thoughts you guys have would help out. I'm at a loss.
Thanks in advance.

RE: Howling when idle - FIXED
I looked at the IAC modunder V6 mods which showed a clear picture of an IAC - Mine was upside down.
If you experience a "howling" problem, make sure your IAC is right side up. I'm not too proud to delete the post. =) Some poor uneducated soul (like myself) may do the same thing.
