If you do everything you listed, your car will probably be back to stock speeds(maybe a tadfaster)since you're riding on some heavy 18s. I'd say go with the short throw and leave everything else stock.

It is not worth it to mod any car. You do it though because you want to. Have fun with it and get the car looking (and going) like you want! Have fun...

I bought mine with 63k on it as a DD in august of 06, I have every bolt on that there is at 93kand now I'm building a stroker motor with an M112. You'll be fine, the 3.8's in 02+ are very strong, just don't be rediculous. Be aware that your synchros will most likey start going out in your tranny though, common issue, usually cheaper to replace the whole thing that repair it, but just be ready for it. I got a new tranny for mine for $600, it was a Ford unit from a salvage company, but it was overstock from ford and brand new on a pallet.

You do the mods you listed and you'll be really happy with it, so long as you don't expect miracles.

You can do without the Intakes and headers w/ a Heads/Cam setup, but the only way you'd stay under $1800 for Heads/Cam/Tune would be to do it yourself... and even then, it would be tough.

You can buy used power packs for that. Say 35hp for all bolt-ons, or 85hp for a powerpack. I just saw a nice vortech sell for $1400 on ebay almost new! Listen to me, if you want to get real power, just go strait to a power adder, then bolt ons and other little stuff. Gears/locker should be next after the power adder
