Default RE: O2 sensors?

Yeah, my brother spliced in some o2's for my parents neon and it didn't work to say the least. Wouldn't run after that. I agree, no splicing. Bad idea! Enjoy!

Okay. Not to 'hi-jack' this thread but I need to know the 'magic' involved in removing AND installing front Oxy-sensor in '99 Mustang. There is virtually NO clearance between the sensor, the starter housing (bulge) in bell-housing and the firewall. It is near impossible to snake one hand down from the top - let alone TWO hands. The connector is near impossible to access, in order to push in clip and detach. I highly suspect that the front portion of exhaust (y-pipe) must be detached and lowered slightly. Can ANYone concur? We are doing this lying down but the real issue is LACK OF ACCESS. In hindsight, could the brainiac engineers have not pointed sensors to the front - instead of firewall?? Advice appreciated.

Well, I used my intuition and got her done. It was a near 'slam-dunk' once I disconnected L and R down-pipe flanges. This allowed Y-pipe to be lowered about 4-5 inches, which made a world of difference for accessibility. The only thing that could [B]not[B] be done was to re-attach the main electrical connectors to the desired brackets. No big deal. A little ingenuity and a couple of plastic Zips took care of that. Hopefully I won't need any more tech help - but you never know.
