Not to seem cocky but i dont have a "cheap" V6, that just bugged me a little, i just dont have my car paid off and its not cheaper spending $1000 in total parts at a junk yard or spending $10,000 for a GT...

your gonna spend more than a grand and the down time to convert everything will be a nightmare.

not to mention you have to apply for federal emissions wavers to put the older 5.0 in your car, contact your insurance of the V8 swap so they adjust your premiums higher to V8 premiums (if you don't it's insurance fraud)

pay for a ford dealership to disable the PATS Key system. not to mention you will need to beef up the 7.5 rear with a detroit truetrac.

it's alot more work than you think and costs that you won't forsee. get a 4.2L F-150 engine and it will basically be about the same as an older 5.0. alittle lower on torque but not much or just put a procharger on your 3.8. it take one hell of a built 5.0 to run with a procharged splitport. hell the 4.2l f-150 engine in our company F-150 pulls the same year 4.6L company truck F-150. both are 2wd. the 4.6 is the 239hp version. it's a pig.

al we are doing here is giving the best advise we can based on Knowledge. you might not want to hear it because you had your heart set on it but i would never swap in a 5.0 into a 99+. the fuels system is completely different. your going to have to plumb in return lines on your car for the return style 5.0 fuel system cause your car is returnless. you will need a 98 fuel tank and fuel pump. the guages from the 5.0 won't work. you have to use 4.6 gauges if you use the V6 trans then you have to figure how to make the ECU interact with the 4R70W trans of the V6. if you use the 5.0AOD trans then you must use 94/95 gauge 5.0 cluster.the list goes on and on.

in a nutshell. it's just not worth it

Your V6 is cheaper than a GT of the same year or body style. lol I was in no way talking ****. I was simply saying that if some-one had money and they wanted a purpose built race-car that it would make more sense to get the base model, in this case a base model Mustang. That way when they started to strip the car to put in the high-performance parts they wouldn't be spending more money than what they really needed too.

What are you planning on doing to your car?

I don't know, I would love to stick the 5.0 Cammer in my car. lmao That isn't the same 5.0 we are talking about but that would be pretty bad-***.

You could just make the 5.0 carbed, thatll save lots in itself. Not to mention its easier and A LOT cheaper to make some serious power with a carb.

ANother thing, if your going with a 5.0 youll need a 94/95 K member, if its 4.6 youll need 96+.
-P.
PS: You could go with all aftermarket guages and be original

You want a loud, fast, pretty car? I would probably go buy a Z06 then. lol J/k You could try doing a full exhaust system from the headers back to give you some more tone and power.

The V6's aren't necessarily built for straight up N/A power but they can get some pretty good numbers when you boost them. It sounds like you just want a V8 so you can have the sound and power. You can ask most of the GT guys though. The V8's in the GT's aren't the most powerful. The 99-04 GT's are quick but they aren't super-fast. The older NPI and 5.0's need some work to make them fast, especially the NPI's. You would still have suspension work and rear-end work to do on top of getting the power and sound if you did a V8 conversion.

I seem to be doing a pretty good job of getting people mad lately. I don't understand what I am doing to make people mad though. Maybe I should stop giving my opinion on everything. lol

ummm...procharger is a brand.

converting it to a 5sp again is a LOT of work. again it is easier to sell your car and buy one already manual if thats what you want.

you still have to apply for federal emissions waivers and it still must pass a visual as well as a tail pipe sniffer. you just can't slap a carbd 302 in and expect to pass. it's alot of paperwork and fees to get the waivers.

toooooo much work.

it would be easier to buy an 88 fox for $1500 and work on it for a progect car
