Default how much will a shift kit help my ET?

I'm FINALLY getting mine installed tomorrow. My car is an '02 completely stock. I know it won't be that huge, but how much difference will it make in the 1/4?

Do I need a transmission cooler -If so, what type?.... I would rather wait and do it right instead of FUBARing my transmission......And does anyone know if it still relatively easy for a shop to do this to the transmissionwith longtubes and an o/r h-pipe on the car?

Well, seeing there's about a .7 difference between a stick and an auto on 99-04 models, and if your "shift kit" is a jmod, I bet you'd get .3 improvement in the quarter mile.

Its not really necessary unless you're pushing some serious power of if youcombine gears with a shift kit. If you do go with one B&M Cooler is great. As far as the longtubes if they do get in a way they will drop the pype and headers in order to work on the tranny. Install it with pros dont mess with it.

maybe .3 max
i would say a good guess would be about .13 seconds. not bad really. the main thing is the faster firmer shifts are better for the trans than the soft factory setting if you are running it hard. the slow soft shifts are slow and soft because theyslip the clutches longer to make a smooth transition into the next gear. quick firm shifts the clutches are engaged or not engaged no slipping is allowed with the shift kit during shifts thus less wear

well.... i didn't get it installed today, i'll probably wait and get the cooler and possibly a higher stall converter and have it all done at once over the summer. actually i'm more concerned with getting my longtubes and dual exhaust on right now since all the parts are sitting in my room takin up space... i just need the damn gt bumper to arrive.. [&:]

that's why i was curious about the LTs and h-pipe getting in the way of the tranny work.
