Motor running hot?
Hey everyone... I'm really learning a lot about cars, and am actually going to school to be a mechanic after the summer ends. As for right now, I don't know a lot about the hard problems. Changing the oil and air filter is a breeze, but what happens if your engine seems to stay heated for a long time after shutting it off? I went to a 5 minute oil change service (by mistake, what a rip off, 25.99 for crappy service and things I could have done myself, anyway) and they told me it was running hot. I had thought it was natural to take a while for the car to cool down after the drive. After all, most of my rides aren't the basic ride... I had been driving 60 miles to Slidell so I figured the car would be running somewhat hot. Am I right, and it was only the length of the trip? Or is it unnatural for my car to be running hot, even after that distance?
I must add that I was running 80 m.p.h the whole way there. I know that's bad, but I was seriously about to miss a very important doctors appointment. Sorry if going 80 m.p.h made anyone mad! Take care, everyone!
P.S.: Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time or effort to reply to my post. I really appreciate it!

I suppose that she meant the engine sounded as if though it were popping... or still heated. The temperature hand is actually in the middle at all times. And I have an electric fan, so do you think with as little knowledge as I have that I can do some research, and possibly repair the problem? Or should I leave this one to the professions until I become one myself? Thank you for your reply, Derf00.
