Default Long Road Trip.....

The ol girl has almost 170,000 miles on it, and I've got 1,200 mile trip to make. I was wondering if there are any things i should check out before I go, besides the usual fluid checks.. She's a 98, new clutch last year, new plugs wire's 6 months ago... had the manual trans oil changed and real Diff oil changed 5 months ago... and I keep up on regular oil changes... Any input would be helpfull. Sorta getting nervous about this trip...Thanks

just check the fluids, tire pressure, the spares tire pressue, that you got your jack, and some good tunes. also, i tend to bring along basic tools, extra quart of oil, and jumper cables.

+1 to what he said. If the car has been taken care of then I wouldn't worry to much about it. I have had a few problems with my 98 but none of them were engine problems and all of them were problems that I caused... lol

I just took a 700 mile road trip 2 weeks ago. Talk about uncomfortable. I don't even have that stiff of suspension and it still made for a rough ride up and back. Definitely make sure that you have someone go with you. I wouldn't have made the trip if I hadn't had a friend come. lol I hate driving long distances by myself. I get easily distracted/bored.

I frequently make 1,000 mile roadtrips to home and back all the time and my car has 123,000. If your car is running good right now then i'm sure she'll be fine. Make sure your oil is done and your fluid are clean, especially the radiator.

bring a gallon of water. on long trips, the gallon of water is vital! drinking, cleansing, filling collant if you are low or you have a leak...always, the gallon of water. have a good trip.

Unless he were to leave the gallon of water in the car overnight and it were to freeze and bust. I did that once with twotwo liters of Mountain Dew... Good thing it wasn't my car. lol

Renting a 08 Dodge Caliber for the week. I priced out the gas milage on my Sisters almost stock Mustang with 3.73's. Im saving almost $175 by renting a Caliber. We are driving from Det. MI to Orlando FL. then up the east coast. Lots more room too. Unless you are moving.. then you kinda have to take your car
