Default hood latching problem

ok so heres the deal, when i go to close my hood it wont fully lock. if i mess around with the latch for a little while i can get it to lock down properly, but i should just be able to close it normally and be fine, not have to **** around with the stupid thing. any ideas/fixes?

my hood after i shut it a few times doesnt want to shut. i have to unbolt the latch, pull it back up (its able to slide down a little bit) and rebolt it.

Haha I had that problem, i sprayed the heck out of it with WD-40 and that seemed to do the trick. Dunno if itll work on all of them tho.

I have the same problem I have to hold the hood about 2 feet up and just drop it for it to latch properly and it makes me cringe every time. I've tried taking apart the latching mechanism to adjust it a little but it has these sort of locating pins that don't allow for adjustment. Kind of sucks maybe some day I'll just rig it up to work properly on its own.

MINE TOO!! It pisses me off so much! Mines the drivers side, my 85 did the same thing. I just dont feel like taking that side of the car apart to put a new seat belt in...my luck I would break something else while trying to fix something.
