Default Squeaky Clutch

So I have this problem with my clutch, everytime I step on it it makes a loud squeaking noise. I talked to some friends of mine and they said it was most likely just the linkage and u could grease it up and the noise would go away, much like that of the door hinge. So I jacked up my car and followed the clutch cable down to the tranny and couldnt see any linkage or anything that could be lubed up. The noise is definitely coming from under the car, so I know its not the pedal. And I'm not the most mechanically inclined, but I like to think I can fix things with some guidance. So anyone have any ideas?

It depends on your year, when I bought my 98 the clutch squeaked a lil and then got worse... As for the linkage...I'm not to certain about that area... But my squeak ended up being the throwout bearing on the clutch.... I ended up replacing the the bearing and ended up putting a new clutch in it since the transmission was already out..
