2002 IMRC with 2000 computer
Im switching motors from a 2000 to a 2002 and the new motor has IMRC's while the old motor does not. Will the ECU from the 2000 be able to control the IMRC's? Will i need just the new wiring harness or the ECU from the 2002 as well. (the car will be re-tuned at pauls high performance, will be adding a procharger.) Does anyone have access to wiring diagrams for a 2000 and 2002?
Thanks

Well there are connections (Three pin I think) on the vacuum cervo's that open the IMRC's which are fed back to the ECM to controll variations in A/F when the butterflies open.
The butterflies will still open at the given vacuum on the 2000 system but there will be no feedback to the computer. Being that you are having it custom tuned on a dyno jet those variables should be able to be inserted without any problems. Ask you tuner before hand.
Being that you are going to forced induction it is my personal opinion that going with a 99-00 non IMRC intake would be the best choice for overall performance and less restriction.
This is also a good time to have a shop (Or do it yourself) clean out any grime from the upper and lower intake.
If you decide to go that way I would suggest search for a ported and port matched upper and lower intake, then port match your heads to the new lower intake. But if that is going too far into what you wanted to do then I would just change the lower intake and leave it at that.
If you want to go that low here are a few suggestions.
*Ported port matched upper and lower intake
*Port match the heads
*Clean up the exhaust ports, slight porting
*New performance OE roller lifters from summit (Stock onesfail at about 6500rpms.)
*9/16" push rods (No welded tips) I havnt actually seen somone offer these yet so you will have to do some searching for the length you need.
*Supersix Roller rockers (Not the harland sharp ones, his own.)
Thats everything you can do without taking the heads off.
I did some extensive porting on my 00' engine's heads while they were still bolted on.

The 2000 and the 2002 bothhave butterflies that are vaccum controlled? So, correct me if im wrong, the only difference with the 2000 and the 2002 is the IMRC sending unit on the back?
Thanks for the help
Thanks for the help
The 99 into 2000 do not have butterfly controlled runners. They started in 01. Good concept, but poor execution of the design. Teh control modual is an electronic vacuum regulator... so both vac and electric come into play. I'd also highly suggest either a 99-00 lower or have the IMCs deleted from the lower.
I guess you COULD open the runners manually and leave it like that but it would be much better to take the manifold off and delete them. I'm sure you are eager to get the engine in the car but there is no sense in cutting corners especially if you have performance in mind and you say you're adding a Procharger. I can't imagine it taking more than like an hour to do anyways. Here is a link that will tell you how to delete the IMRC. All that is needed is a dowel rod and some JB Weld.

Well, i took a run out to the junkyard today and found a wrecked 2002 v6 that conviently got hit on the passenger side. I can see the computer harness that runs the length of the front passenger quarter pannel and then down to the kick pannel where the computer is and it is in good condition. I am going back tomarrow and the guy at the junkyard is going to help meget it out. Now i wont have to worry about any differences between the 2000 and 2002. The only problem is that it is an auto, but im pretty sure that they can fix this in the tune. Thanks
