engine sputtering, please help, im lost
well let see now, ive changed the engine with a 2003 v-6 with 25,000 miles on it, it has a new maf, iac, tps, plugs, wires, fuel filter, injectors, fuel pump. im running out of options. does the 2001 v-6 have a fuel pressure regulator? if so where and if not what is the round diaphram looking thing on the fuel line by the firewall. im lost and dont know what else to do.
having the same problem with my 95 v6 stang.i went to autozone today for some strange reason he wanted me to pop the hoodto connect the computer thing and i told him u connect it over ur right leg if ur sitting in the driver seat and also the recipt he gave me with the diagnostic said ford probe v6for some strange reason.i dont thinkhe knew wat he was doing.but supposivly my EGR system is bad.
I've been fighting this same problem, misfiring, hesitation and spark knock for about 8 months now. Seemed fine when the engine was cold but got worse when the engine warmed up. After running the gambit of parts, Air Filter, Fuel filter, oil change, coil, spark plugs, wires, PCV, Clean MAF sensor, EGR,93 octane fuel, injector cleaner and how many other things to get rid of this. Finally out of desperation I called Ford and they suggested I come in and have a Fuel Induction System service $125. Essentially they remove the EGR and inject under pressure a cleaner. This got me thinking, so I removed my intake manifold and WOW, the carbon build up was amazing. All of my EGR ports were either badly clogged orcompletely clogged. I did a through cleaning of the intake manifold and did my best to clean the EGR ports. Today when I took the car out it ran the best I have ever seen. Up hill with the AC running and no hesitation, no spark knock no nothing.
So my suggestion to all of you is take your car in forFuel Induction System service $125, or if you feel cumfortable remove yourintake manifold and clean it yourself. This cost me nothing, just the time it took to take it apart and put it back together.

SeaFoam is great, but unless you can get it into your intake and your EGR ports it wont do you any good as far as cleaning them. I tried that once, direct into the intake, still not enough to clean out the EGR ports.
fuel system service would be great except ive changed the whole engine andhave the same exact problem, so i highly doubt it has anything to do with the engine its self. i pulled the intake off the neww engine to check and all my ports were spotless. i keep getting told coilpack, so i have one on order, ill let everyone know when i get it. by time im done with this problem ill have a entirely new engine.
