Default weird starting probs

Ihave a 2000 mustang v6.
When i try to start the car the gages move all the way over to the right, and sit there for a few sec`s and then move back to normal.
The car is acting like the batterty is dead so im geting a new battery.Just wanted to make sure the gages moving like that dont mean anything else. Gotany ideas?

the gauges do that to calibrate full swing when the ignition is turned on the first time after connecting the battery.as long as the car runs once started then get the new battery. you could also have your altanator checked tomake sure it is putting out the right amperage and that the battery is actually fully charging before buying one.

I went to autozone, they said the battery was pushing 20 amps to low and the alternater was good.I just put the new battery in and is working fine now.
