drag springs shocks
Alright well, as of recently i have realized the importance of traction and good launchesin a race and with the mods i've done this winter i feel like some Nitto 555R Extreme DRs in the back along with some drag shocks and maybe an eibach drag launch kit will go a long way. You know they say most races are won in the first 60 feet, and yes i do race on the streets from time to time, nothing rediculousbecause most races wont go past 100km/h anyways. So im asking whatwouldbe a good set-up... i was looking into some lakewood 50/50 shocks in the back but i dont think they make them for my year (2002). Im gonna take off the front sway bar, i have cut springs right now so ive been planning on replacing them anyways, but i heard the drag launch springs raise our cars up higher than stock aha which looks terrible... So any suggestions or set ups would be awesome... thanks
Well, I'm not sure about the V6, but stock rear springs and 4 cyl fox body springs are an awesome cheap setup for the GT's.
For shocks and struts, your best best is an adjustable coil-over setup. If you don't want to go with that trouble, get some Lakewood 90/10 in the front and 50/50 in the back. Look on Summit Racing's site, they had them for 2002 for the GT. I'm pretty sure it's the same.
If you want to go crazy with a suspension setup, I'll list what I'm doing. I know they make all this for the GT, but with an 8.8 rear swap you should be able to use the rear suspension.
Front:
-Sway bar removed
-Tubular front K member with a arms
-Adjustable front coilovers
Rear:
-Full length boxed sub frame connectors
-MM lower control arms with coil-over mounts
-MM torque arm
-ajdustable coil overs
All the rear stuff I listed will work for you if you convert to an 8.8 rear end.
I didn't put down and spring ratings, since I don't feel like going to look for them. If you're looking to get serious about this, talk to the guys at Maximum Motorsports. They're great.
Also, a good suspension setup is better for the track than the street. The street isn't properly prepped for the suspension to have it's full effect. A set of sticky tires will do you fine for little to no track time.
Oh, and street racing sucks.

The Lakewoods will fit your car. Go wtih those, and the 4 cyl fox body rear springs for a good cheap set up. Look into a good set of lower control arms as well.
Drag springs won't lift your car at all. Someone was on crack.
