there's a lot more to it than unbolting the 6 and bolting in the 8.

I think the best way to sum this up is:

1.) build the 6
2.) sell the 6 and buy a GT
3.) sell the 6 and buy something faster than a GT

hey, if it's cheap, why not? I would say he gave you a good price, and he should keep his word even if it's harder than it looks.

Then again, I wouldn't exactly want to take advantage of a friend. I'd do some reasearch and make sure he knows it's not just a straight drop.

the main thing you'll need is a donor car, there really are a ton of parts that swap.

Engine
Tranny
Rear end
pcm
ecu
cluster
engine harness
engine accessories
motor mounts
springs

That's just off the top of my head

What type of engine are they going to put in? Their is going to be an even bigger problem if you buy a wrecked out 99 GT as your donor car and they are wanting to stick in a built 351 out of a 93 Lighting or something like that. Your best bet would be to go out and buy a donor car for cheap and then have the guy do the install for a cheap price for you.

Their is a lot more involved in an engine swap, especially when you have to upgrade nearly everything anyway. If he is going to help you out so cheap then why don't you just get all of the parts you want for your car and then have him do the installs on them for a cheap price?
