Inertia Fuel Pump Switch
Ok, so my other post had a bad title and I guess I really didnt explain it too well. My '98 wont start because of the Inertia Switch (the little button in the trunk that controls the fuel pump) does not have power to it. I unplugged the connection and usedboth atest light andvoltage meter to test it, both producing no results. Before I parked it for the winter the Cam Shaft Sensor went bad. I knew this would cause it to run rich, but would it cause the computer to shut off power to the switch? I have tested the fuel pump relay and it is getting power. I have even swapped it out with two other ones off of my other Stangs. Would that CSS cause the switch to get no power or is there bad wiring? Do you think it would be possible to run a wire from the battery to the switch just to check if the wiring was bad?
If you aren't getting power TO the switch, then I'd check fuses. I don't see the cam sensor causing an issue, it would cause spark or injectorissues long before the pump would cut out. Make sure the button on the inertia switch is pushed all the way down as well.
The button is as far as it will go down. But the button is not the issue. I am taking the connector off at the button and checking for power.
There is only one fuse I saw in the manual. That is a 20amp in the fuse box under the hood for the pump. But I checked all fuses under the hood and driver side and they were fine. All connections at the computer are connected.
