ok, to set everyone straight. 96-04 GTs are 2v. 96-04 Cobras are 4v. 03-04 Mach 1s are 4v. 03-04 Cobras are the only ones factory supercharged. 05+V8s are 3v. the 99-01 Cobra 4v and 03-04 Mach 1 4v motors are similiar but not quite the same. the internals are slightly different. what else do ya'll wanna know?

^^ would that be another good alternative if i wasnt to go w/ the one you mentioned?

im am trying to budget it so i dont cut any corners but can still buy a nice exhaust sometime soon haha

as for the stroker kit, for the price id probably just supercharger a engine or drop a 4.6L in(that is if i got a v6)

$1500 will end up being the price of your entire exhaust assuming you do the entireinstall yourself. if you pay someone, tack on another $1000 for the entire install. headers are a PITA and the install for them is usually around $500 to $600. unless you're just dead set on it, i would just get a GT and call it a day and not worry about a supercharger until you've paid your car off. and dont look at the prices on here, most of these guys want top dollar. i bought a pristine 2003 GT w/ 42k miles on it for $10,500. look on autotrader or autoextra for the best deals. and dont be afraid to negotiate the price.

Getting a V6 and SCing it will cost less than buying a GT....plus you'll make more power. Seems pretty straight forward to me.

Go Pro Charger all the way. Very easy to install, very complete kits and great numbers on an otherwise STOCK V6.

To answer an earlier question - there is much more different between a V6 and the GT than just the engine size.

i am hoping to keep it all around $8,000ish

the cheapest GT i have found around here is $8,000

so now my 3 options are:
-buy a gt
-v6 engine swap
-supercharger/procharger

lilrouch-do you care to explain the other differences to me?

A Gt will be just that... a Gt. Nothing special.
A swapped V6 (to 4.2L) will give the same hp/tq as the old 5.0L (220 ish depending on wha year motor.)
A SC'd 3.8L will give mid 300 hp.

Other V8 o V6 differences are the front suspension and rear end. If a V8 swap to a 4.6L is the path, go witha DOHC motor to make the most of it (5.4 DOHC would be sweet). I will need full motor, computer, harness, front suspension, trans (to be safe), rear axle, dash cluster and in-car harness to make it work wihout rigging it. Best bet is to get a wreck donor car so it's all there.

If a stock SOHC 4.6L is put in, you'll spend more on it to get 260 hp than you would to just SC a 3.8L and get 100 hp more out of the sixer.

so pretty much the best bet is almost to just supercharg a v6... also i dont know if this is possible but what about turbochargin? (i posted in the vortec thread about the advantages of turboing over super charging and supercharging over turobing)

sorry for all the questions, just trying to learn and make the best choice. thanks for all the help so far!!
