Ok long story short, I drive a 99 3.8L with 80k miles, and I need a new engine.
(I'll give more details as i get them, waiting on a phone call from my mechanic right now.)

I was planning to sell the car in about a week for 5grand in order to put a down payment on an 01 cobra.

So few questions, whats a new/used 3.8L gonna cost?



And what I plan to do next.

1) find a GT donor and do the swap
2) just say F it, attempt to sell ithonestlyand pick up another DD
3) swap a new engine in



Suggestions/comments?

 

Get a used junkyard motor for a few hundred dollars and sell the v6.

 

Thats what I would do, go spend 2 - 3 hundred on a used motor, install it yourself, which is tough for one person, or get a buddy to help out. GL

 

been searching around, going to take it to the ford stealership to get a second opinion. Apparently the cam shaft is moving about around an inch under high torque causing aloud squealing noise at higher Rpms. I have a garage that'llwould do the install for me, hopefully I can do all this for under a grand.

dad through the idea of adding long tubes while I had the motor out, any ideas?

 

If you're going to sell the car don't spend any more money than you have to.
