Default Forging estimates

Few of you guys know, im dropping in a brand new 3.8L motor into my 99, wondering about what it will cost to forge the internals completely. Crank/rods/pistons/valves/heads.

Plan would be to completely forge it now, and than slap on a d-1sc and run around 15lbs of boost on it by the end of summer . Just looking at costs.

-Dan

I'm looking at Super Six Motorsports atm, any other suggested retailers?

I only go with SSM for engine parts.I have seen their work firsthand plus they are somewhat local to me.

You want to completely BUILD it you mean. Forgeing = pistons/rods/crankshaft in some cases but thats a 2500$ custom part.

So i'm looking in the ball park of around 2500$ to "build" the engine? which is deffinately doable. Than add the boost towards the end of summer.

Your looking at 2500 to forge.
Built motor (forged, ported heads, intakes, cam, RR's, bigger valves,) gonna be around 5000+

not including install if he doesn't have the time or tools to invest in doing it himself.

Well built motor is gonna cost him 5000+

If he buys the entire motor he (or anybody) should be able to swap

Why buy a forged crank? The 4.2 crank has shown to be strong as hell,600 hp+ Also it makes for a nice addition of torque espically when you add boost into the mix. You are not going to build a good engine for $2500, maybe a shortblock, but not the longblock. Fpr refrence here is what i have spent on my shortblock:
4.2 crank - $190
block - $300
forged pistions and rods - $1360
machine work on the block - ???
