The higher up you go in the ratio ex: from the stock 3:27s to the 4:10s you loose the top end but gain in the quarter mile. the ratio is howecer many times the driveshaft has to spin to make the rear wheels spin once. The 4:10s will operate at a higher rpm than stock. So for an example if your stock times of 0-60 are 7 seconds and you have a top speed of 125 MPH. After the 4:10 you could have a 0-60 time of 6.5 seconds but only have a topspeed of 115 MPH.

makes sense, but im not lookin to hit 115 or even 100 unless im in the mojave desert all by myself. The 4.10s would make my car a beast off the line, and thats more important to me than being able to hit 115 or 125, because im not a racer on hte track, and im not looking to go to the track anytime soon.

So i think losing 10mph at top speed is fine for me.

I believe that it all depends on how you drive....it takes a while apparently to get used to the new driving feel of 4.10 gears...thats what i have heard and if you adapt well, you really wont lose any mileage unless you drive like a maniac
