how accurate is autozone code reader, my check engine light is on and ive got a bit of hesitation when i start it. or is there any other optin like a test mode where you count flashes..

 

What year car is yours? The Code reader should tell you what code your pullin. And no there is no way to count the flashes.

 

counting the flashes is timing. the auto zone code reader is like any code reader. its NOT a diagnostic test though, you might have to go to a shop and get them to conect it to their diagnostic test to find the prob. but if your check engine lite is n just go to auto zone first. check all your spark plugs and wires.

Your computer sets off a code because something bad happened, autozone's OBD2 scanner will read that code and tell you what happened.

 

yeah, the scan tool (or a tuner) can tell you what the issue is. though it seems 95 percent of the time, for whatever reason, on whatever car, it is the 02 sensor or bad plugs.
