quick questiop, need help!
I'm swapping the engine in my 96 3.8 for the one in a wrecked 98 3.8 that i just bought. I'm VERY new to cars. My uncle and grandpa are gonna help me do the swap (they build cars). Problem is, they can't help till this evening. Where can I find instructions to at least get the engine in the 98 ready to pull? Will a chilton book have instructions? What materials do I need before I start? I'm in a hurry to get this done, so please help!
Go down and get a Chilton and a Haynes, both have great info and really both are needed to cross ref information.
You will need a set of basic hand tools, sockets and you can get started.
Most important mark where everything went, be careful of those little red and green hard plastic vacuum lines, those are very easy to break.
If you want to help then remove the air intake tube and remove the headers. Drain the radiator and pull the overflow tank and radiator out and put them in a safe place.
That should take enough of your time before they get there to help

thanks a lot! seems like most of the people on here are reluctant to help- your advice is appreciated. My 96 has shorty headers (came with the car) and the donor car has stock headers. since I have both- which ones should I put on my car?
