Default Remote Starter

Got a 2000... I'm not sure how old the remote starter is, it came when I got the car... When it's chilly in the morning I try to start it but it takes a few times before it actually turns over... Does the fact that I have 115,000 miles have an effect on it?

I'd have to say it's gotta be the the remote might need new batteries. If not that, might be your receiver in the car. I just got one put on my 96 a few months ago, so it's not all that old. The car's got more miles on it though...

Well it's just the starter, there's no alarm, so that's possible.

I say definitely change the batteries in the remote, as stated above, if not the problem, go have your car battery checked out at your local parts store. It might be time for replacement!

Ahh I just got a brand new battery last summer, a DieHard. Plus it was like the best one available. I hope it's not that, but it's got a lifetime warranty. I think.

If you just bought a battery , it's probably not it, but still worth a check at the parts store just in case. I would change the batteries in the remote, and check the actual unit (remote starter) under the hood for loose connections, corrosion, that sort of stuff. GL

So I changed the battery... And then I came out of the store and attempted to start the car... 3 times... Didn't work. I think it's gotta be the starter because even when I try to start it with the key, it takes a while, maybe 5 seconds to turn over. I'm gonna bring it to a guy I know and have him look at it.

I would say that if it takes 5 or 6 trys with the key, it isn't likely the remote that is the issue... It may be ANOTHER issue but you have bigger fish to fry.

Well I went to the guy and asked me if I had a working second key. My second key doesn't start the car, it's not programmed (or so they say). So he told me to bring it to a locksmith. Guy came out, started it with the regular key, and it worked. Then he tried the non-programmed key, and the THEFT light does not stop blinking. He tries to start it but it doesn't turn over. He did that a few times and then tried the remote, and no such luck. The THEFT light keeps blinking when trying to auto-start it and when using the non-programmed key. My cousin who used to work for Ford says he can get my key programmed by a friend in my local Ford dealership, but he's going away this week. It seems that everything is wrong with my car this week. From this, to warm A/C (I think it's this part I'm showing here), it's the refrigerant hose; I also thought it was the A/C switch until yesterday, when it took me forever to take the center apart only to see that it does the same thing as before, as I bought that crap from eBay, now I'll probably sell it; I also gotta get a couple of leaks fixed in my top, I'm gonna need a new back window. But as for this remote starter, it looks like its gonna take a few weeks. Locksmith told me that the re-programming might not even work, so he told me it's not worth potentially losing $45. At least he was honest.
