Default RE: prob with engine light

ORIGINAL: blackstang06

ok this afternoon i changed the spark plugs in my 97 v6 3.8l mustang and the check engine light wont turn off now
however i put champion plugs in it and i completely removed my air intake but was v ery carfull with the inlets i covered them both up. so if anyone has any idea why it is doing this please help me out
Uh this is a very simple fix (most likely) because I've done the exact same thing on my 00 V6. When you put the air intake back on, did you remember to plug the MAF sensor back in? I left mine dangling and for about a half hour and then the light kicked on. After I plugged it in and drove it about 45 minutes, the CEL turned off.

And it's not the best idea to reset the light right away unless you have some idea of what is causing it. You end up clearing EVERYTHING out and if there really is a problem, you may have a harder time finding out what is causing it.
