Default Split-port questions

Q1) Will my car run if I do an EGR delete but don't yet have a handheld tuner to turn off teh EGR functions? (canI run it for a little while until i get the tuner, with little ill effect?)

Q2) Is there a special tool I need to remove the fuel lines from the fuel rail withoutruining them?

Q3) Can I wire my two temperature sensors together to get they're readings from the single available sensor?

You'll need to take the EGR out of the computer to get it running right once you delete it.
Yes, you'll need the fuel line tool to disconnect it - They're about $5 at any part store.
Someone else will have to chime in, but I believe you only run one of the temp sensors.

Thanks,

I think alot of old school hot rodders like to delete egr, just because they don't understand it.

I think he has two temperature sensors, not really sure though. It think one reads out at the gauge, the other send information to the ecm.

EGR is Exhaust Gas Recirculation. It is used as part of the 50 state EPA required emissions control. It takes a small amount of exhaust gas and runs it back into the intake. Removing it just means you aren't using exhaust gas as part of the air going into the motor. Does it hurt or help? Neither really. I'm still running mine just to stay legal. However, if you take it off, you NEED to tell the computer. Otherwise it thinks it's getting air that it's not really getting - killing both performance and mpg.

The EGR is disabled at WOT, but at 1/2 throttlethe reduced performance isnoticable. And the gas mileage is horrible, i got like 230 to the tank when i had my EGR out without a tune.
