How many RPM's should a stock 1995 3.8 idle at? I want to be sure that mine's not too high.

It will idle that high on a cold start for a little while, it should idle down to 800 after a minute or so.

That's where it's at with the engine warm.

Yeah, that's a bit high, your IAC might be getting bad. If it gets worse, swap the Idle Air Control on the throttle body, easy fix, there like 75 bucks!! GL

^^^ jk is right, most of the time, it is the iac. however, you can check to see how dirty your throttle plate may be around the tb...if its really dirty (ive seen them that dirty), your butterfly could be a hair open, and it could cause the not-so-good idle. try taking apart your intake tract, clean your maf with some electronics celaner, clean the inside of the tb real well, see if that improves the idle.

Yeah, cleaning the TB is worth a shot, I believe you can clean the IAC too(didn't fix mine on my 95 but my idle was over 2k so it was pretty much a no brainer). I would clean the IAC, TB first, if that doesn't work, go with cleaning the MAF as suggested by SongTradingUSA!!
