Engine Clicking
My stang makes this loud clicking noise when it first starts, and at lower RPMs, unfortunately I am really concerned about it, my baby might be on her last legs, anybody know what could be causing this?
Mine does the same, but it's not REALLY loud and it only does it at start up and sometimes at low RPM. My friend said maybe an exhaust leak, or it might be normal cause the oil is still getting into the engine. I noticed that it lessened when I switched from using 87 gas to 89. It didn't make a HUGE difference, but it helped. Try that.
BTW, how many miles do you have on yours? Mine is at ~67000. If your's is doing it and you have high mileage, then you might want to get it checked out.

It's virtually impossible for someone to decipher a description of an engine/car sound over the internet. Even if you had top quality video and sound, it would be hard to tell.
It MIGHT be a lifter. When they get old, it takes longer for them to get oiled.... or so I've heard. Your injectors make noise, but it shouldn't be audible unless you get like less than 6 inches away from them. A pushrod or rocker arm might be out of wack. It might even be an exhaust leak. If it is the bottom end (spun bearings, connecting rods, etc.), it'll sound almost like metal on metal and you'll definitely know something is messed up - it will get louder when the RPMs increase.
Your best bet is to get to the auto parts store and buy a mechanic's stephescope. Probe around under the hood until you find out exactly where the noise is coming from. Tell us then or better yet, go to a good mechanic.

If it just happens when the engine is cool, there's a good chance the culprit is an exhaust leak. The a/ccompressor drips onto the manifold on the passenger side, making this area a common spot for a leak to develop. It happened to my mustang twice while I owned it.

Thanks for the ideas guys, I'm not too mechanically sound so I'll most likely be taking it to the garage, although I can say that it does not get worse with higher RPMs, it goes away basically after I drive a few yards
