Default Changing Shifter *****

I have a 2005 v6 stock Mustang manual transmission, and the shift **** is beginning to rip apart on the sides. I have been wanting to invest in parts from americanmuscle.com and a shift **** was one of the accessories.

Problem : I don't know too much about the shifter and how it works as in when you take off the ****. I've messed around with it a little, but everytime I do I can pull up and I feel a metal pipe connectedwith the ****. I just want to replace the **** with a Roush Retro style ****, I don't want to replace a whole system just for my own personal wants. Sorry for my lack of knowledge on this subject, I just don't want to buy something and not know how to install it. Thanks to anybody that can help.

i dont kno much about the 05+ but usually u twist off and maybe try using some force to pull it off. But dont give it to much their might be other ways of getting it off on 05 and up

yup.. twist it counter-clockwise for a while... it takes quite a few twists, but it eventually comes off.

Yup, if it won't come off(sometimes they are pretty tough), get a rag, some channel locks and twist counter-clockwise. You should be all good.
