Default split port heads mustang vs windstar

doing research on the splitport swap for my 98, and i know that in 96 they introduced splitports to the windstar, however the intake itself looks different from the mustang's split port intake even in later years (2000 -01)... is there a reason behind this?

i've also read that the windstar actually puts out 10hp more then the mustang.

why did ford release 2 versions of the same intake?

the windstar intake also lookes.... cheap..... as far as porting and polishing is concerned, which intake would be better?

Swapping for the Windstar intake is a bit of work. A handful of people have done it but no one has shown any proof there were power gains. I think it would be easier, not to mention cheaper, to just p/p the Stang manifold.

i dont see it being any less then what ford reports their windstar 3.8 as producing (200hp) which is a 50hp gain, without P&P...

i'm confused as to where you see it being cheaper... the problem im having is that nobody is really selling mustang split ports.. and if they are, they're asking to much for them... especially when compared to windstar parts..

why did ford release two different intakes for the 2v 4.6 for the f150's and mustangs? They just did.

just do the swap to splitport and put a windstar intake on

Your logic is all wrong. The windstar makes 200hp, the mustang makes 190hp.

If you have a single port v6 mustang do a split port swap and you'll be up to the same 190rwhp. Do a winstar intake on top of that and your up to 200rwhp.

Get it?

You have a '98, you have a single port with 150hp. A windstar intake won't work on your car with out doing a "split port swap." doing a split port swap makes your mustang's engine equivalent to a 99-04 v6, which makes 190hp. The windstar, an equivelant to a 99-04 v6,makes 200hp. Get it?
