Thats not the only time it does it I was trying to give an example. Yea I do know about the ex and internally balanced part. Exactly how would that kill my mpg with the rpms low,my engine is turning less and so for useing less gas. I normally get about 50 more miles on a tank when I do that compare to some of my normal driving.

Yeah let me know how it goes. I also have a 2000 mustang, and I think that they are externally balanced. I may be wrong but I think the later part of that year they went to internal.

Just call Spec and tehy'll tell you wether or not you need the counter-weight. My 02 didn't need it.

How do you know if it's internally or externally balanced?

Would it be worth it to put a lighter flywheel?

there are aluminum flywheels that weight less, they suppose to make the car rev faster so I guess It would make the car a little faster. There not as strong as the steel ones so i've heard they might not last as long, but I do believe that our engine block is aluminum.

The aluminum version is the lightest one, it removes rotational weight from the drivetrain, causing less drag on the engine. It revs a lot faster.

so, if you get an aluminum flywheel it doesn't matter how your engine is balanced?
