Default Flywheel??

I might have some type of a flywheel problem but not totally sure so maybe I can get some help. When i'm driving around in town I will put it in 5th gear, so the rpms are low and my shifter and i guess transmission start to shake. But when I accelerate or when my rpms are around 2 or so its fine. So could this be flywheel problems?

I'm not really boggin it down doin 45 in 5th gear my rpms are at 1500, which even that is probably higher than normal cause of my gears.

I'm wondering this same thing, At an idle mine is the worst. My Motor mounts look fine and my RPM's Dont drop, just the motor/tranny shakes.

If anyone can answer this questions it helps more than one person.

Yeah that is pretty much what is going on here. I was told that it is probably my flywheel is warped, which that would kindof make sense.

If I was at 1500rpm in 5th, mine would do the same thing, you just have to use 4th at 45 since you have gears. It's nothing to do with your drivetrain or anything, you're just bogging it down a little too much. What gears do you have?

I have 373s, I'm pretty sure im not boggin it down. I don't really like to just drive around in 4th cause the gas mileage sucks pretty bad. It hasn't always done this just over the few months it started to shake.

Driving in too high of a gear (like 5th in town) will kill MPG faster than driving aroundin 4th.

I'd say you are bogging it down. 1500 is a cruise rpm, not a city driving rpm. Heck, I don't use 5th unless I'm at 70 ish.

However, if you think it's a flywheel issue, be aware Ford used two different flywheels on the 3.8L V6 depending on if the motor is external or internally balenced. Make sure you get the right one if you swap them out.
