Default High idle

i have a 2001 and my idle seems to be really high, when it was started the other day it went straight to 2300rpm. Ive heard that this could be fixed by replacing the TPS but wasnt for sure if thats right, and if it was how hard is it to change and about how much it might cost me? and when going down the road it seems to accelerate on its own, allowing me to coast for long periods of time even on hills, any ideas of what could cause this?? I have a bad battery and some people seem to think that changing it would help these problems but idk. And would a bad EGR have anything to do with this??

What makes you suspect the EGR is faulty? Do you still have the stock DPFE sensor? Any codes?
I would start with cleaning your IAC, then check the voltage on both the IAC and TPS. A haynes manual would really help you in this case.

Ive only had the car a lil over a month and it was making a weird sound so i had someone look at it, and he checked my EGR and said something about when you pull the piece off the top that it should make the engine rev, well mine didnt do anything and he said that could be caused by a hole in the line or something i have no clue??? im not for sure about the sensor and codes...i got a haynes manual yesterday and ive been looking over that...
