Default Suggestions for a GOOD performance POWER steering rack

Can anyone suggest a good performance power steering rack for a 2000 V6? All the performance racks I've seen are manual steering. Anybody have experience with this:

http://www.steeda.com/products/apsco...and_pinion.php

I've vastly improved my handling over the years, but the steering is still much too sloppy for my tastes when driving in a straight line. I replaced the original power steering rack with a Cardone, OEM, thinking that the old rack was just shot and I needed a new one to firm up the steering. The Cardone rack felt the same as the original, making me think that the soft steering is by design. Is there a power steering rack that is tight by design?

Converting over to manual steering would definately make it stiffer and more responsive, but require more effort of course, or you can really fork out some money for the flaming river rack

Do you have a link to the rack you're referring to? All the flaming river racks I've seen are manual steering...I'm looking for a power steering rack that is tighter.

thx man, i guess i should learn to use google instead of buggin yiz all the time, heh.

that thing is really pretty, and it looks xpensive, but honestly, I might be willing to shell out the dough IF it does what I want...I feel like the maximum motorsports performance steering shaft I got was a big disappointment and that i may be wasting my money to change out control arm and sway bar bushings since they are in tact and not broken, torn, or bulging or anything like that.

So yea, has ANYONE gotten this flaming river power steering rack and how big of a difference did it make over an OEM rack? i'm looking for a tight steering feel and one that allows me to keep the car straight down the highway.

To clarify, my steering has come a long way, and I am generally pleased with the results of my mods. I just want more is what I'm tryin to tell yiz. I want the car to feel tighter and firmer when driving straight. Bushings is what I thought my next step could/should be, but I took a very close look at all of them and really did not see any signs of wear at all. This is why I am reluctant to spend any money on swapping out the bushings, because I feel like it will do little/nothing for my car. Am I wrong in my thinking?

Ryan, you said in a earlier post (https://mustangforums.com/forum/show...teering&page=2) that "I've talked to a lot of people and really have yet to see the flaming river rack to be a good investment for a street car." Could you kindly clarify this? Is it a poor investment because it might seem like an overkill for a daily driver? Could you comment on the feel of the rack? Is it compatible with the MMST-7 steering shaft?

Any other suggestions/comments would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

the shaft you have won't have any issues adapting, since it's all made to replace stock parts.

When you replaced the bushings, what did you go with? Rubber, uerethane, delrin? That may have something to do with some of it

Wussup fellaz,

I got some more info on the flaming river sportsman rack. Since I have the Steeda adjustible tie-rod ends, allz I really need is the rack with inner tie-rods plus the fittings to adapt the stock hoses to the rack. Everything for only $695 + shtting. If I don't like it, I can return it for a refund minus 15% restocking fee, so it might be worth the $100 risk to try it out. It won't be available until end of October, so I'll let yiz all know how everthing works out.

I'm being told by multiple parties that replacing the bushings is pointless if they're not cracked or damaged in anyway, so I'm going to pass on that.
